Starting the program initializes the population. Individuals having genotype AA are colored in blue, those with genotype aa are colored in red, and pink individuals are heterozygotes. Pressing the ‘Simulate’ button simulates data using the specified values for p, the frequency of allele A, and f, the inbreeding coefficient. The parameter f (or Fis) is exactly half the selfing rate in the case of a diploid mixed mating system. The ‘Save’ button can be used to save the current state of the population to a file in NEXUS format. Get FSim and give it a try to fully assess its capabilities!
